Our mission

ECCHH’s mission is to improve community health and advance economic and environmental justice in East Contra Costa by conducting nonprofit and resident-centered, equity-focused programs focused on housing and employment.

Our vision

For the community. Our community vision is a healthier, more resilient community where Pittsburg and Antioch residents benefit from climate-friendly home improvements and related services, supported by a dynamic and responsive clean energy workforce that strengthens the local economy.

For our work.  Our vision is to implement an innovative place-based model of direct-install building electrification. ECCHHC envisions securing home retrofit benefits for residents, workers, and the climate, and also sees its work as a catalyst to strengthen long-term community resilience and environmental justice capacity for East Contra Costa.

By integrating climate and environmental justice into the work of organizations already serving families, children, seniors, and other vulnerable residents, ECCHHC expands the community’s capacity to recognize and respond to emerging climate challenges. As participating organizations gain expertise, partnerships, and experience, East Contra Costa will be better positioned to pursue future investments in healthy housing, climate resilience, environmental justice, workforce development, and community revitalization.

Our values

Collaboration

Our results are better through collective effort built on trust, shared decision making, and openness to learning from others.

Equity

We work toward a fair and just distribution of resources, opportunities and rights, recognizing that historic and structural barriers must be addressed for equity to be realized.

Environmental Justice

Everyone has the same right to environmental protection and benefit, and the same right to shape the policies that affect their community. No one should be left behind in the clean energy transition.

Excellence

We hold ourselves to high quality services and continuous improvement,  judged by listening to residents, not by our own assessment.

Care

We work to create an environment where everyone feels heard, supported and respected, and where interactions allow time for connections to deepen.
